Volkswagen South Africa has released a petrol version of its Amarok double cab. This engine joins the 90 kW 2,0 TDI and the 120 kW BiTDI in this model line-up.
The petrol engine of choice is the 2,0 TSI with 118 kW produced at 3 800 r/min, and a torque figure of 300 N.m available from 1 600 r/min. This engine is mated with a six-speed manual transmission, while an automatic version is planned to follow late next year.
Performance and economy-wise, this Amarok has a claimed zero to 100 km/h time of under 10 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. It consumes 9,6 litres of fuel and emits 228 g/km of CO2.
The 2,0 TSI Amarok comes in Trendline specification and is priced at R301 400, including a three-year/100 000 km manufacturer warranty, five-year/90 000 km service plan and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty.
