Designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Peugeot’s first hot hatch offering, the 205 GTi, the French carmaker has turned up the wick on its already impressive 208 GTi with this commemorative spinoff.
Peugeot has upgraded the standard 208 GTi’s 1,6-litre turbopetrol engine to produce 155 kW and 300 N.m of torque. Coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox and featuring the same Torsen limited-slip differential currently doing service in the RCZ R, this powerplant will reportedly propel the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary from standstill to 100 km/h in 6,5 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 225 km/h.
The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition sits on lowered, stiffened sports springs and rolls on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels behind which hide uprated Brembo brakes.
Along with a striking half-and-half, red and flat black livery (also available in red an pearl white) the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition also sports “208 GTi 30th” decals on the C-pillar window finishers.
The cabin will feature a number of model-specific touches, among which strongly bolstered, Alcantara sports seats, a numbered plaque and piano black trim finishes are the highlights.
European sales of the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition will commence in November with the numbered plaque motif suggesting an as yet unspecified limited production run.
