For those who like the 911 GT3 but reckon, its 349 kW isn’t quite enough grunt and its lightweight chassis with active rear wheel steering isn’t quite nimble enough, you’ll be happy to know a Porsche 911 GT3 RS is in the pipeline.
What appear to be patent photos of the 2015 car have been leaked and as you can see, the RS will have a double-bubble roof with lines echoed in the bonnet, wider front wings with aero-ventilation slats behind the wheel arches, as well as lightweight wheels and rear fenders that look like they’re from the 911 Turbo. Of course there’s a big rear wing bolted on too. Inside you won’t find any rear seats naturally, but what you will find are sports seats and a roll cage.
And what will be nestling below that lightweight rear engine cover? Porsche aren’t saying, but it’s likely to be a tweaked version of 3,8-litre six-cylinder unit found in the current GT3. Power will be fed to the rear wheels via a PDK transmission specifically tuned for use in this model.
