There’s an updated Range Rover Evoque on the cards for 2014. The highlight of these changes is the adoption of a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
The petrol and two diesel Evoques will come with this new ‘box as standard. This, along with other fuel saving techniques, has helped improve the Evoque’s fuel consumption by up to 11,4 per cent and has kept CO2 emissions low at 129 g/km for the 2,2-litre diesel.
Land Rover has added the option of Active Driveline to the 2014 Range Rover Evoque range. This “on demand” four-wheel-drive system assesses the driving conditions and speed and, should the conditions suit it, switches to front-wheel-drive mode for better consumption. This system also comes with active torque biasing. Using an electronic differential, it helps with traction by splitting torque between the front and the rear, depending on where it’s needed more.
Other new features include lane-departure assist, traffic recognition systems, park assist and torque vectoring as standard on all-wheel-drive Evoque. This system divides the torque between all four wheels to fight understeer.
In terms of styling, the 2014 Evoque comes with new wheel options, extra colour options and new badges.
The updated Range Rover Evoque will be in SA in February 2014.
