Fresh reports of a planned larger Range Rover Evoque XL model, destined to be positioned between the original compact SUV and the Range Rover Sport, have emerged out of the UK.
Autocar has confirmed that the new model, codenamed L560, is expected by 2016 and will be built on the same lightweight iQ[AI] platform as Jaguar’s planned new compact range of models, including the proposed Jaguar SUV based on the CX-17 concept.
Destined to be built at JLR’s new Solihull facility the Evoque XL is likely to feature a new range of four-cylinder engines – both diesel and petrol – and, together with the forthcoming long wheelbase Range Rover, will complete the modern day Range Rover family tree.
