To counter a deep slump in sales figures (often into single digits in the last few months), Renault has just refreshed its Scénic range.
The five-seater Scénic and seven-seater Grand Scenic have both been given more aggressive front-end treatments. These incorporate sleeker multi-element headlamps, along with louvered front grilles and chromed accents with contrasting gloss black surrounds for the new daytime running lights.
Other revisions include a standard-fit TomTom sat-nav, Bluetooth, auto lights and wipers and PDC front and rear, even on the base-spec Expression. The more luxurious Dynamique adds dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and heated seats and keyless entry. Lastly, the top-spec Bose gains, as the name not-so-subtly implies, a Bose audio system, rear-view camera, xenons and acoustic windscreen.
Perhaps the most important part of the upgrade is a new 1,6 dCi turbodiesel that replaces the archaic 1,9-litre. This engine develops 96 kW and 320 N.m at 1 750 r/min and, combined with a six-speed gearbox and stop/start, consumes just 4,4 litres/100 km. The other diesel option is a 2,0 dCi that delivers 110 kW and 360 N.m at 2 000 r/min, and is mated with a six-speed auto. The naturally aspirated 1,6-litre petrol remains as is.
