For 2012, Renault has added some noteworthy specification additions to its Clio III range.
The updated range focuses around the theme of “connectedness”. This means that standard equipment, on the base Yahoo! (you read that right) includes a Parrot Bluetooth system, while the next trim level called the Avantage includes the TomTom LIVE navigation system. The data from the navigation system is shown on a 150 mmm colour screen sited in the centre of the dashboard. Renault has offered a TomTom as standard equipment before, but this updated navigation model include Google local search and real time traffic and weather updates. All this functionality is at hand using the remote control.
There are also connecting jacks for iPods and USBs. Lastly, the system also includes Renault’s Plug & Music feature where a passenger can stream music from a Bluetooth-enabled multimedia device.
On the exterior 16-inch alloy wheels differentiate the Avantage from the Yahoo!.
Options for the range include a sporty body kit, a rear spoiler as well as a sport exhaust and a custom sound system.
As with the current range, the updated Clio III uses the same 1,6-litre petrol engine producing 83 kW at 6 000 r/min and 151 N.m at 4 250 r/min. The sprint to 100 km/h is claimed to take 10,2 seconds while top speed is 190 km/h. Fuel consumption is said to be 6,7 litres per 100 km.
The Clio Avantage can also be ordered with a four-speed automatic transmission; the rest of the range is offered with a five-speed manual transmission.
All cars come now with a four-year/60 000 km service plan and five-year/150 000 km mechanical warranty.
