Renault recently unveiled its 2008 F1 contender in France, and the launch of this R28 Formula 1 single-seater proved to be the perfect opportunity for Renault to showcase its latest entrant to the highly competitive hot-hatch segment, the new Twingo RenaultSport
The Twingo RenaultSport houses a revised version of the 1,6-litre unit found in the Clio, and packs a respectable 99 kW. So, with a kerb weight believed to be in the sub-1 000 kg region, the Twingo RS should be a peppy little performer.
Renault has remained tight-lipped regarding the actual specifications and performance figures, but these will emerge when the RenaultSport goes on show in Geneva later this year.
Exterior details resemble those of the Twingo Concept car shown at the 2006 Paris show. With wider front and rear wings, beefier wheel arches, 16-inch alloys and profiled side sills and spoiler, the RenaultSport takes on a more purposeful stance than its more conservative stable mates.
According to Renault, the chassis in the Twingo RenaultSport has been tuned to provide more nimble handling and improved responsiveness.
The interior of the RenaultSport has a revised rev counter and aluminium-styled pedals. The red seatbelts that were featured in the model on show have not yet been confirmed as standard features.
