With the new Chevrolet Corvette having just made its debut at the North American International Auto Show, the Internet is ablaze with images and video of the Bowtie’s new range-topper. Now, it seems the Corvette could finally be made available in right-hand drive. This according to chief engineer Tadge Juechter, who hinted that a right-hand-drive Corvette would make production lines after 2015, a recent report by Autocar states. Apparently, Juechter admitted that the interior would require a major overhaul, but the report also says that the company wants the new C7 model Corvette to be a world car.
The much-anticipated new ‘Vette reintroduces the Stingray moniker in its name and boasts a 6,2-litre V8 that produces 335 kW and 610 N.m of torque that are sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual gearbox.
According to General Motors South Africa, there are no plans to bring a right-hand-drive Corvette to South Africa but the possibility hasn’t been ruled out.
