Land Rover has confirmed that the last Defender will roll off the production line at the end of 2015. This will end a run of 67 years and no doubt will be a sad day for Land Rover enthusiasts. The main reasons for stopping production are safety and emission regulations.
The shape that has become an icon all over the world has hardly changed over all these years and many of the components of the latest Defender are interchangeable with those of much older models. So what is next? Land Rover is keeping tight-lipped about the replacement model, but rumour has it that it would not be (thankfully) the DC100 concept seen a couple of years ago.
