We’ve brought you two trailers of the upcoming movie Rush. This docu-drama outlines the rivalry between Formula One legends Niki Lauda and the notorious playboy James Hunt. It also recounts the fiery crash at the German Grand Prix that nearly killed Lauda.
Academy award winner Ron Howard, the director known for Cocoon, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon, immersed himself in the world of Formula One to recreate that fateful season between two bitter rivals, among these was Lauda himself, one of the film’s protagonists.
At a recent screening for members of the Formula One fraternity, including Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Felipe Massa, Ross Brawn, Adrian Newey and Bernie Ecclestone. The circus master himself gave it his approval according to Howard:
“I said to Bernie, ‘Thanks for taking the time to see the movie,’ and he said, ‘Thanks for making it. It really took me back.’ He wasn’t joking, he was kind of emotional, and I think he was surprised.”
With the international release date of September 27 drawing closer the excitement for the new movie is building for Formula One fans.
