“Mix a little Mad Max with a touch of the Terminator. Throw in some Dakar dust ‘n dirt and man up to meet the macho Renault Duster Détour a little later this month [at the Johannesburg International Motor Show].”
There’s not a whole lot I can add to Renault’s description of the new Duster except to say it has a Proudly South African connection thanks to a collaborative effort between Renault Design Central Europe and a South African design studio based in Johannesburg.
Emblazoned in a two-tone combo of pearl yellow and matte grey, it’s certainly striking and imbues the staid Duster with some need chutzpah. Not that it has really needed it; according to Renault SA, the Duster has received an amazing response from potential buyers. The carmaker’s dealers are “extremely busy” organising hundreds of test drives.
The Duster Détour will be on the Renault stand at hall 6 at JIMS, which runs from 18 to 27 October.
