Heading for production later this year will be the third body style based on Mercedes-Benz’s W222 S-Class platform. The company first launched the sedan followed by the Coupé shortly thereafter. We knew the company would also release a Convertible, and as these pictures indicate, the car is almost production ready.
The overall design of this drop top resembles, as expected, the lines of the Coupé. Little else is known at this stage, but the range of engines should be the same as that of the Coupé, meaning an S500, S63 and S65 AMG. We can also expect another new technology or two to debut in the Cabriolet.
Our bet is that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Convertible will be officially unveiled at the 66th International Auto Show at Frankfurt in September.
