Suzuki lifted the wraps off its latest offering in the c-segment crossover sphere; the new Suzuki SX4.
Largely inspired by the firm’s S-Cross concept, the new SX4 has been described as featuring a more aerodynamic shape, cleaner, more efficient powerplants and impressive utilisation of practical space in a compact package.
Measuring 4 300 mm in length, the new SX4 serves up 430 dm3 of luggage space that can be extended by repositioning the rear bench seat and luggage board to form a deeper, flatter space for larger loads. Another standout interior feature is a two-panel panoramic sunroof measuring 1 000 mm in length with an aperture spanning 560 mm.
In European markets, the SX4 will be offered with a choice of 1,6-litre petrol and 1,6-litre turbodiesel engines, both of which powerplants have been optimised for efficiency and low CO2 emissions.
The new SX4 also ushers in a brand-new all-wheel drive system dubbed ALLGrip 4×4. It features a choice of four drive presets – Auto, Sport, Snow, and Lock – accessed via a push-and-turn dial located on the centre console.
Although the new SX4 has been earmarked for local consumption in 2014, pricing and availability, as well as the exact technical specification, still have to be finalised.
