Toyota’s 86/GT86 is an ideal track car – it’s relatively light weight, rear-wheel drive with a mechanical LSD. But which road car couldn’t do with a diet?
What we are looking at here is possibly a club racing variant of the road car, and not merely some tuner modded special. It was spotted doing laps at the Nurburgring at a recent industry day.
As you can see there are are number of carbon-fibre bits, different alloys and a monstrous rear wing. There isn’t any indication of a whooshing wastegate or sneaky blow-off valve so any force-fed goodness can be ruled out. However, that isn’t to say that the 86 isn’t packing a few more ponies under the hood.
