Toyota has developed a little concept car, reportedly in conjunction with Sony, that is half car, half computer pet. It could take centre stage at next month’s Tokyo Motor Show.
Officially the project is designated 720N, but unofficially it’s called AIBO after a Japanese computer doggy that featured prominently in Janet Jackson’s recent music video “Doesn’t really matter”.
Sony has crammed the car full of the company’s latest IT technology including a “memory stick, jog dials and a state-of-the-art sound system,” theride.com reported this week.
But here’s the best part … Another feature of AIBO is innovative blue LED headlights that, according to local sources, "change the expression" of the car depending on the level of illumination and may even smile to pedestrians as they approach AIBO.
The car has no steering wheel and is operated either by joystick or control arm.
Officially no one from Toyota has confirmed its existence, and Sony has replied to enquiries from Japanese magazine Mag-X only by saying that it was in discussion with a car company, but would not say which one.
