Toyota has brought its new Corolla to the 2013 Johannesburg Motor Show, which will go on sale in South Africa early next year.
The new Toyota Corolla is marginally larger than the car it replaces; growing in overall length by around 99 mm, 16 mm in overall width and with a 2 700 mm wheelbase suggesting that it shares its underpinnings with the new Auris.
The engine range will consist of a 1,3-litre option with 73kW of power and 128Nm of torque, an all-new 1,4-litre Turbodiesel with 66 kW and 205 N.m, the 1,6-litre engine with 90 kW and 154 N.m from the current Corolla and a 1,8-litre engine with 103 kW of power and 173 Nm of torque as the flagship model.
There will be a choice of transmissions including six-speed manual ‘box options across all engines as well as a new Multidrive transmission choice for the 1,6 and 1,8 versions.
Also drawing attention to the Toyota stand is the FT-86 Open Concept (see below), the new Etios Sport limited edition model, the Toyota 86 with added kit, upgraded Toyota Hilux, refreshed Fortuner and new-look Prado.
