Just how fast is Bugatti’s 434km/h Veyron SuperSport with 895 kW? Well, according to TranStar Racing-not quite fast enough.
The American development team has asked everyone to “join the rebellion” as they plan to drown Bugatti’s record-breaking Veyron SuperSport in tyre smoke.
But how?
Meet the Dagger GT. According to its creator, TranStar Racing, it’s a 1 491-kW (that’s 2 000 horsepower) super-machine designed to break all supercar world records. Based on the Corvette Cheetah, the Dagger features a mid-engine layout with enough power to back up the company’s boasts of dominating every speed-related test out there – from straight-line sprint to taming the notorious Nürburgring.
Power-wise, TranStar is expecting to use a twin-turbocharged 572 multifuel (capable of running on petrol/methanol/hydrogen/ethanol) racing unit built by Nelson Racing Engines. According to the chaps at TranStar, this engine, when mated with a 6-speed transaxle gearbox, is good for a staggering 1 491 kW. The transaxle gearbox is also said to be strong enough to rein in the 2 712 N.m of torque this unit develops.
The numbers: hold on tight as the Dagger GT will rocket from 0-100 km/h in 1.5 seconds-a full second faster than Bugatti’s new special edition-on the way to a claimed top speed of 483 km/h. Funny enough, 483 km/h is another number which trumps the exclusive Veyron SuperSport’s 431 km/h World Record time.
For comparison-and yes, we just have to compare:
Dagger GT Veyron Supersport SSC Ultimate Aero TT
Max power 1 491 kW 895 kW 882 kW
Top speed *483 km/h 434 km/h 414 km/h
0-100 km/h *1,5 secs 2,5 secs 2,8 secs
Quarter mile *6,7 secs not yet tested 9,9 secs
* projected figures
TranStar’s Dagger GT will be handcrafted to the owner’s specification; this means that each car is completely custom and one-of-a-kind. The only generic detail for the Dagger would be the layout which includes: a hardcore racing model; a street-legal comfortable sports vehicle, and a luxurious GT-X model. The GT-X will somehow combine speed and comfort without losing its supercar-eating integrity.
Unfortunately TranStar will only produce five units in 2011. And unless you earn enough to buy a moon, you’ll have to skip on this deal. However, if your financial situation changes between now and 2012, you could opt for the next batch which consists of 10 units.
The Dagger GT is currently in concept form and the numbers put forward are purely on paper, but if the press release is anything to go by, TranStar will not rest until it achieve its goal-by breaking every record.
