According to World Car Fans, Volkswagen is allegedly working on a successor for it’s popular VR6 engine.
Volkswagen’s new head of engine development, Fritz Eichler, is apparently supervising the engineering of the all-new narrow-angle V6 direct-injection petrol engine. While previous VR6 engines were naturally aspirated, the new one will include a forced induction and might carry a twin-turbo setup.
In May, Volkswagen showed the Design Vision GTI concept which is powered by a twin-turbo V6 3,0-litre engine featuring a narrow angle design. This engine puts out 370 kW and 560 N.m of torque. This new VR6 however, is expected to to put out between 250 kW and 331 kW of power.
According to Autoweek, this new VR6 is set to be used in a number of new VW models in selected markets. CAR will be keeping an eye on this!
