If the 132 kW Polo GTi isn’t enough for you, this latest production-intent concept from Volkswagen may be of interest. The company recently unveiled two hotter Polos – the R WRC Street and the R-WRC race version. The former of the two is a preview of a sporty small series, which is set to launch in 2013.
Looking every bit like a hot racer, the WRC Street features a rear spoiler, diffuser and a sports suspension. But it’s what lies under the bonnet that counts. The fettled 2,0-litre TSI engine produces 162 kW. Still not enough for you? Well, then take a look at this…
The Polo R-WRC, presented by Volkswagen Motorsport, features a smaller engine – 1,6-litre TSI – but the guys as VW Motorsport have worked their magic and it’s able to produce 220 kW and sprint from zero to 100 km/h in an impressive time of 4,1 seconds. The Polo R-WRC is a road-going prototype for the FIA World Rally Championship and will appear at various WRC races around the globe in 2013.
