WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
Following a recent first round of voting by 59 international motoring journalists, including the only South African juror, CAR’s Hannes Oosthuizen, the ten finalists in the annual World Car of the Year competition have been revealed.
The 2010 World Car of the Year will be selected from the following ten cars, listed in alphabetical order:
Audi Q5
BMW X1
Chevrolet Cruze
Kia Soul
Mazda3
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Opel Insignia/Buick Regal
Porsche Panamera
Toyota Prius
Volkswagen Polo
Previous winners of this prestigious award include the Audi A6 (2005), BMW 3 Series (2006), Lexus LS460 (2007), Mazda2 (2008) and Volkswagen Golf VI (2009).
As before, a World Performance Car will also be announced, and the winner will come from this list:

Audi R8 V10
Audi TT RS Coupe/Roadster
BMW Z4
Ferrari California
Jaguar XFR
Lotus Evora
Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG
Nissan 370Z
Porsche 911 GT3
Porsche Boxster/Cayman
Previous World Performance Cars include the Porsche Cayman S (2006), Audi RS4 (2007), Audi R8 (2008) and Nissan GT-R (2009).
The top three in these categories will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, March 2nd, and the final winners at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, April 1.
Now in its seventh year, the WCOTY organisation will also select a World Green Car and a World Car Design of the Year.
