Recently, we featured the “5 most expensive cars currently in Gumtree“. Not only did it make for interesting reading, but it got the bikers among us thinking. What about looking at the opposite end of the scale, to see which collectable motorcycles one can pick up for less than R100 000? Here’s what we found…
It is already seen as a modern classic and will surely still offer a tremendous thrill-factor. It might have done 35 000 km, but if it was serviced regularly this mileage should not be a problem.
Another twin-cylinder superbike, but this time from Honda. Originally developed to compete in the World Superbike Championship, these bikes offers a different riding sensation compared to the screaming four-cylinder units we usually associate with the Japanese brand. Even though it has covered 56 000 km, according to the seller it is in “excellent condition”.
This is only for the brave and those with enough time on their hands for a proper project. There can’t be many of them in South Africa, and you will have to search for parts online. However, you will surely have a unique bike in the end. What’s more, the seller is willing to negotiate on the price.
Definitely collectable, but pricey, is this air-cooled CB350. It is in a better condition than most bikes of this age. It seems one of only a few problems is the electric starter motor which is not currently working, but it is at least licensed until November of this year.
One of the original superbikes! It has covered only 49 000 km and is, according to the seller, in an “above average condition”. Although it doesn’t feature the legendary blue and white Suzuki colours, it still looks pretty neat.
