‘Hypercar’ wasn’t a word we would attach to the Hyundai Santa Fe before Bisimoto got its hands on the South Korean SUV. On paper, this particular ‘Santa-Fast’ is a pure driving machine.
Bisimoto took the 3,8-litre V6 from the Sonata and fitted a remarkable twin-turbo kit which has been boosted all the way up to 2,7 bar. The list of modifications seems to go on forever, but the end result is 775 kW to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
To manage this excessive amount of power, the Santa Fast has been fitted with a Rothfab rear sub-frame, rear differential from the Hyundai Equus, spec stage-5 clutch and aluminium flywheel, custom Bisimoto axles and half shaft and 4-piston Buddy Club brakes.
The interior gains a set of Momo Daytona EVO seats, Bisimoto reservoir socks, a 4-point chromo roll cage and Crow restraint harnesses; everything you might need for the daily school run.
Bisimoto are no strangers to the world of excessive tuning. Many might remember the 770 kW Honda Odyssey it created not too long ago. Not to mention the 522 kW Tucson from last year’s SEMA.
This is just a prototype of course but Hyundai USA has listed, beneath the press release for the Santa Fast, information about its a 10-year powertrain warranty. A bit strange to add for a car that has enough turbo pressure to inhale half of the planet’s oxygen.
