We know that German automotive engineers come to South Africa during this time of the year. This summer, there is an abundance of testing going on, as we have seen Porsche Cayennes, 918s, 911s, Boxsters, Caymans and now we have these exclusive pictures showing BMW and Mini testing as well.
The international launch of the new Mini Cooper hatch is currently taking place, but as can be seen in these pictures, Mini is doing the final testing on two upcoming five-door hatchbacks and the Convertible. All these cars implement the new Mini face with the prominent lower air intake. The one model is the new five-door hatch followed by a new Clubman. The latter will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show.
The big news is the BMW Active Tourer, though. This large MPV is likely to share its engine line-up with the Mini range, which could explain why these cars were caught testing together. It is quite obvious that the Active Tourer will offer a spacious interior. It will definitely offer five seats, but we won’t rule out the possibility of another two small fold-up seats in a third row.
As previously reported, the Active Tourer will be available in SA from October.
