The Range Rover Evoque Convertible recently hit the market in South Africa, priced at a smidgen over R1-million.
But now a new report suggests BMW could follow the British automaker into the uber-niche compact SUV convertible segment, using its upcoming X2 as a base.
According to motoring.com.au, a “BMW insider” says the Munich-based brand is keeping close tabs on demand for the topless Evoque, since it is considering entering the segment.
The BMW X2 was previewed by the Concept X2 (pictured above) at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year, with the production version (running on the same XKL platform as the X1) set for a full reveal in 2017.
If a convertible variant does indeed see the light of day, however, the Australian publication speculates that it won’t be before the end of the decade.
