By the end of this week, both the Beijing and New York Auto Show would have started. Over the past few weeks several manufacturers have released pictures and news about cars that will be released at both these shows.
Now Ford has confirmed that it will show a production version of the Escort Concept it showed at last year’s Auto Shanghai.
Although the Ford Escort will be similar in size compared to the Focus sedan, it is reported that the Escort will offer a more spacious interior while the level of specification will also be higher compared to the Focus
The Escort will share its front-wheel drive layout, engine and gearbox range with the Focus though. Initially the car will be produced in China, while exports to markets such as Russia and Latin America could follow.
At this stage it is unclear if the car will be considered for the South African market, but, if the pictures are anything to go by, the Escort makes for a more attractive package compared to the Focus sedan.
