When Audi released details about its RS5 TDI concept earlier this year, it left many Audi fans wondering if the company had plans to create high-performance, RS-badged diesel cars. The short answer is no. But don’t let disappointment sink in just yet.
In a recent conversation with Car and Driver, Quattro GmbH managing director, Heinz Hollerwege, stated that while a diesel RS doesn’t look likely, the company is interested in possibly creating performance oriented diesel vehicles under a different moniker so that it’s set apart from the RS models.
Other bits that Hollerweger threw into the conversation hinted at high-performance electric vehicles as well as the possibility of a new engine for its RS5.
