Hyundai has officially revealed its new baby SUV. Following a leaked image (see above) of the car earlier this month, the show car was shown at the Beijing Auto Show.
Set to take on the likes of Ford’s EcoSport, Renault’s Duster, et al; the iX25 shares its looks with the other SUV members of the Hyundai clan such as the Sante Fe.
It is believed that the iX25 is underpinned by the same platform as the current i20 hatchback, so don’t expect any real off-road prowess. Hyundai confirmed that only a 2,0-litre engine will power the ix25, and more importantly that it is a “China-exclusive SUV”. This clearly shows how important a market China has become for manufacturers. However, we strongly predict that it will only be a matter of time before this compact SUV will be exported to other markets around the globe.
