The Alfa Romeo 4C is undoubtedly an interesting little mid-engined coupe/roadster that makes use of a small but effective turbocharged engine.
Sadly, it costs over R1-million and many people feel that is simply too much money for a car with only 177 kW. So, it has seen disappointing sales figures since its release in 2013.
According to AutoForecast Solutions, the Italian manufacturer has scrapped any chance of a next-generation 4C for both the coupe and the roadster shapes.
Alfa Romeo admits that it did not expect to move many units, but even with these low expectations, it was unable to meet its targets, with only 306 models being sold in the key US market this year so far. Sales are expected to continue until the car’s scheduled end in 2020.
This buying trend is reflected in the South African market as well, with the last 4C here being sold here in the first quarter. Not a single unit has been bought over the past three months.
