Ford says that it has already sold more than one million EcoBoost-powered F-150 pickups in the United States.
The F-150 is the only pickup truck in its segment offering turbocharged direct injection engines. Two mills are available: a 2,7-litre EcoBoost and a 3,5 litre EcoBoost. Soon, the automaker plans to release the second-generation of the latter, linked to a new ten-speed automatic transmission.
These two engines have been available in the F-150 in the States since January 2011. While it took more than 1 000 days to sell the first 400 000 EcoBoost-fitted F-150s, it took only 2 000 days to move that total to one million.
