EPL fans will know that Leicester City shocked the football world when it dominated the league and won it for the first time ever last season. As a form of gratitude, the club’s chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha splashed out approximately R38-million on BMW i8 hybrid sportscars for his players.
Seeing that this was a gift directly related to the players’ efforts towards, all of the cars were painted in the club’s colours. But this has caused somewhat of a problem, as players were unable to identify which specific i8 belonged to them when attempting to leave the stadium after training.
Out of frustration, Wes Morgan, Jeffrey Schlupp, Riyad Mahrez and Danny Simpson decided to wrap their i8s in order to provide each with a more distinctive look, with Schlupp already tweeting images of his matte black customisation.
Although these footballers make enough money to buy all sorts of other cars, they all seem rather grateful for the gift, with the majority apparently wanting to make use of their new hybrids for a good part of the foreseeable future. Still, in order to avoid yet more confusion, it seems a few more of them will have to individualise their i8s soon…
