A new report from Germany suggests that the Volkswagen Group will stop producing more than 40 models as part of its new global strategy.
Last week, the German automaker said it would invest big in electric vehicles, automated driving, and ride-hailing services as it sought to bounce back from the diesel emissions scandal.
However, German newspaper Handelsblatt reported that this new strategy would also involve the culling of more than 40 models from its existing range.
A Volkswagen Group spokesperson, though, told the newspaper that the automaker had yet to decide exactly how many models would be phased out over the next few years.
According to the report, the Volkswagen Group currently produces around 340 models, under brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat and others.
