Original story:
This week the global media has been abuzz with news of Volkswagen cheating on US carbon emissions tests. It seems that the Wolfsburg-based brand’s turbodiesel models were equipped with special software that would change engine settings (to emit less carbon dioxide than usual) when undergoing an emission evaluation.
The company has admitted that it has been caught red-handed and that it will launch a full investigation. Needless to say, VW’s share price has tumbled. Furthermore, now questions are being asked about the possibility of other manufacturers “using the same trick”.
For now the Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn has released this statement via video.
