Infiniti has released a lone image of its Q30 Concept, hinting at an upcoming compact crossover, ahead of its official unveiling at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
According to the firm’s brand boss, Andy Palmer, ‘the shape of the Infiniti Q30 deliberately challenges catagorisation – it is designed for younger customers seeking an alternative to traditional premium compact vehicles and open to convention-challenging approaches.’
Palmer previously claimed that the firm had been playing with the idea of a model that sits between Audi’s A3 and its Q3 spinoff – a proviso that the swoopily-styled Infiniti Q30 Concept appears to fulfil.
Although many of Infiniti’s products lean on Nissan for their mechanical components, the production Q30 is understood to be underpinned by a version of the Mercedes-Benz MFA compact platform that currently underpins the likes of the A- and B-Class, and an adaptive suspension with three height presets will be offered.
The powertrain line-up has yet to be divulged, it’s believed that the production Q30 could borrow a number of units from Mercedes-Benz.
