Spotting a Jaguar F-Type undergoing testing at the Nürburgring is nothing new, afterall, the manufacturer does have a test facility next to the circuit. But, it seems the company is hard at work to expand its F-Type range. First we heard there will be all-wheel drive versions, now we could be looking at a new gearbox configuration.
If you listen closely, this latest video points to the possibility of an F-Type being tested with a manual gearbox. This is suggested by the engine hitting the rev limiter longer than usual, and also the lack of gear changes during each clip. If it was the current 8-speed automatic transmission, we would definitely have heard more gear changes more often.
It would indeed be an interesting move by Jaguar to offer a manual gearbox in the range, especially if you consider the investment the company had to make on this technology for model of which will only sell in very small numbers.
Nevertheless, should these manual models head for production, Jaguar should be applauded for its efforts.
Expect more details to surface in the coming weeks.
