McLaren is readying a 911 rival in the shape of what looks like a miniature P1.
Bearing the codename P13, this baby McLaren has clear P1 influences about it with a heavily sloping roofline, a taut rear end and that side vent that we have seen on all the modern McLarens.
The company has confirmed that this entry-level sportscar will make use of a twin-turbo 3,8-litre engine with around 330 kW. The new car is based on the firm’s carbon-fibre monocoque and has been touted to be “a true high-performance sports car with the same DNA as the 12C and P1”.
McLaren bosses have said that the price of the P13 will be about 30 to 40 per cent less than the price of the 12C (at least overseas it will be) and it’s set to more than double the company’s sales volumes.
The McLaren P13 is set to launch in 2015.
