The Final round of the 2002 BRIDGESTONE AUTOQUIP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS will take place at the Action Karting circuit in Vereeniging on 26 and 27 September. -

- The fierce competition in kart racing provides excitement and adrenalin rushes with closely contested battles being fought until the chequered flag drops and victory is claimed. The Mercedes-Benz Junior Team are aspiring championship contenders in both the 125GP and Junior GP classes. -

- Team leader, Leeroy Poulter will be hoping to emulate his dominant form all season by holding on to his lead in the 125GP category, kartings top class. His closest rival is 21 points adrift, which should ease the pressure on Leeroy, allowing him to concentrate on his young chargers in the Junior GP class. -

- The three Junior Team competitors in this class are currently placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the championship and the title looks set to come home with current leader, Henry Steel. He will not have things his own way, however, and will be chased all the way by teammates Trent Williams, who currently leads the Regional Championship and young lass, Tasmin Pepper. All are capable of winning and will be keen to impress. -

- “We are thrilled to be ending the season in such dominant form,” quipped Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Manager, Winston Wentzel, “and we trust that the example that has been set this season will be emulated by our Development Team candidates next season.” Three of the Development Team contenders will be promoted into the Junior Team next year, combining their newly acquired racing skills with the set up and track techniques passed on them by this years Junior Team members. -
