Jaguar has been taunting and teasing the public with snippets of information about its upcoming XE saloon. And now the company has given us a completely undisguised look at the front end of this new car along with releasing a few technical details.
Judging my the badge on the grille, the Jaguar XE in the image is the S version, so we suspect that under the bonnet is a little bit more shove that you would find in the regular XE. Currently, some of Jaguar’s latest S branded vehicles make use of a 250- or 279 kW 3,0-litre supercharged unit. We’re not sure which power output the XE-S will have, but we already know that this engine has been confirmed for this new Jag along with a new range of 2,0-litre petrol and diesel engines, called Ingenium.
Other confirmed details about the upcoming XE is that it has been designed around Jaguar’s modular vehicle architecture, uses an aluminium-intensive monocoque, with lightweight aluminium accounting for 75 per cent of the structure. This means that there’s a reduction in weight, which helps with a claimed fuel consumption of under 4,0 litres/100 km, making it the most fuel-efficient Jag yet.
The new XE will be unveiled in London on 8 September.
