There has been much speculation regarding the future of South Africa’s second-most popular bakkie, the Isuzu KB, and with the launch of the D-Max in Thailand, the next-generation KB appears much more aggressive and luxurious than before.
The bakkie has been designed in co-operation with General Motors. Early speculation hints at a local production facility and export to the rest of Africa.
The exterior features a much more aggressive front-end compared with the current KB. The cabin has also been redesigned and makes use of upgraded materials.
Exact technical and specification details have not been made public, but the D-Max in Thailand will be launched with the option of three turbodiesel engines (two 87 kW and 101 kW 2,5-litres and a single 132 kW 3,0-litre unit).
The new KB is expected to be launched locally in 2013.
