This is the new S4 Avant which will stand as the middle-ground for the soon to be RS4 and standard A4 Avant; a sporty wagon that has more of an everyday friendly persona. The S4 Avant will be extremely similar to the S4 sedan revealed last year so most of what you get will be similarly matched to that.
The turbocharged 3,0-litre V6 which delivers 260 kW and 500 N.m of torque will be good for a 0-100 km/h time of 4,7 seconds while the top speed will be limited to the usual 250 km/h. The average fuel consumption for the S4 Avant stands at 7,5 l/100 km with a 175 g/km CO2 emission.
The S4 Avant will be driven by Audi’s eight-speed S Tronic transmission connected to the usual quattro drivetrain with a rear-wheel bias and a freewheel setting to keep consumption at a minimum when it can. 18-inch alloy wheels come as standard but an optional 19-inch set is available. Other handling equipment includes 350 mm ventilated six-piston front disk brakes and an optional chassis with damper control.
Most importantly about the S4 Avant is the added interior space which provides a maximum of 1 510 dm3 of interior space with a total mass of 1 675 kg.
Unfortunately the S4 Avant will not be making its way to South Africa but we have word that the sedan might be making its way here sometime next year.
