Launched as an all-new model in 2012, BMW’s 3-Series is due for a facelift in 2015, marking the car’s mid-cycle update. The updates will feature on the 2016 3-Series.
Updates should be kept to a minimum, with stylistic changes being minor. New bumpers and tweaked exterior lights should be part of the package. Inside, the updated 3 should benefit from new trim options and an updated infotainment system.
Rumours are also doing the rounds that the 2016 BMW 3-Series will feature the new four- and six-cylinder engines. The new engines will feature cylinders with a displacement of 0,5 litres, including fuel-injection, variable valve timing and turbocharging technologies.
A 3,0-litre six-cylinder engine should also feature in the updated model.
In naming its models, BMW may opt to replace the current 328i and 335i badges with 330i and 340i badges respectively. In addition, a new plug-in hybrid model could also be launched.
