Renowned for its bikes and marine products, Japanese motor company Yamaha has hinted at a future production model by releasing a teaser image of the silhouette of what looks like a high-performance sportscar. The concept vehicle should see its official unveiling at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, alongside a staggering 20 other new creations from the brand.
The company suggests that its new creation will be either a plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle, matching the green theme of this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. The design of the new Yamaha is said to be inspired by the brand’s motorcycle range and the engine might be a high-revving bike unit, too.
This would not be the first time Yamaha has proposed a superbike-inspired car; you might remember 1992’s OX99-11, a 300 kW 3,5-litre V12 supercar that was scrapped due to funding issues.
Expect more information on this interesting creation from the Tokyo Motor Show later next week.
