It’s not easy speccing a McLaren 570S, what with the seemingly endless combinations of colour, trim and finish (although, we must admits, it’s a nice problem to have).
So, the British automaker has revealed five exclusive Design Editions of its 570S, each painstakingly created by the people who should know McLaren’s array of personalisation options the best: the brand’s own designers.
Each edition incorporates the designers’ choice on exterior paint, wheel style and finish, exhaust style, and calliper colour, along with what the designers have decided is the “By McLaren” interior package that most complements the exterior.
Design Edition 1, for example, combines a Vermillion Red body with five-spoke wheels, “Stealth” exhaust and red brake callipers. Inside, this special 570S receives a “By McLaren” package of Carbon Black Alcantara and Apex Red Nappa leather seats, Jet Black Nappa leather upper facia, Apex Red Nappa leather lower facia, Slate Grey contrasting stitching, a dual colour co-ordinated steering wheel and a McLaren-branded leather sill finisher.
Interestingly, McLaren claims that ordering this sort of ready-made 570S “makes financial sense for the customer”. Previously, these items could only be specified separately, but each Design Edition actually works out significantly less expensive than if you were to spec your own.
As well as Vermillion Red, the other body colours of the five Design Editions are Onyx Black, Storm Grey, Ventura Orange and Silica White.
