Texas tuner Hennessey Performance has just turned 25 years old. And to celebrate, it has created a bonkers new HPE800 package for the Ford Mustang GT.
Limited to just 25 units, the Hennessey 25th Anniversary Edition HPE800 Ford Mustang (to use its full name) is centred on the bolting of a hefty 2,9-litre supercharger to the 5,0-litre V8.
The result? A claimed sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a supercar-scaring 3,1 seconds and a top speed of nearly 335 km/h. Peak outputs stand at around 600 kW (almost double the standard figure) and 879 N.m, while the quarter-mile is seen off in just 10,7 seconds at 214 km/h.
Of course, the upgrade involves a little more than the simple addition of that mammoth supercharger. The HPE800 also features a carbon-fibre air intake and a new exhaust, as well as an upgraded fuel pump and injectors.
Other additions include chunky Brembo brakes, a dropped suspension, a raft of carbon-fibre exterior trimmings, lightweight alloys, and a handful of 25th anniversary badges and decals.
Hennessey says the 25 lucky buyers can apply the HPE800 to any of the current Ford Mustang GT models, whether it be the convertible or coupe with automatic or manual transmissions.
