Land Rover’s venerable Freelander has been doing service in the compact SUV segment for quite some time now. The second-generation model now gains an addition to the local line-up in the form of the XS Limited Edition.
The Freelander XS’s exterior has been kitted with a distinctive LED signature in the headlamps, 17-inch anthracite alloy wheels and a matching finish for the grille and air vents, while the cabin benefits from electrically adjustable front seats that are covered in a leather/cloth combination, a rear central armrest with storage bin and cupholders, leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as a USB port for multimedia connectivity.
There’s also an upgrade pack available for the Freelander XS that comprises of an 11-speaker Meridian sound system with Extended Navigation feature and Bluetooth compatibility. It costs R23 000.
The Freelander XS is powered by Land Rover’s 2,2-litre turbodiesel SD4 powerplant that produces 140 kW and 420 N.m of torque. It’s mated with a six-speed automatic that sends drive to all four wheels.
The Land Rover Freelander XS Limited Edition is available for R512 600. It comes standard with a five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan. But hurry if you want one, because only 32 models have been assigned to local soil.
