A Taiwanese website has unearthed three images of what appear to be the next geneneration Toyota Prius.
Taiwanese Autonet believe that what you’re looking at here are two versions of Toyota’s iconic model: the Prius Plug-In Hybrid and the Prius Hybrid. The blue, Mirai-inspired car is the standard hybrid variant, while the green one is supposedly the plug-in modification.
What we do know is that the 2016 Prius will ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and will be slightly bigger than its predecessor. The standard Prius hybrid will have a 77 kW 1,8-litre petrol engine and a 66 kW electric motor (combined output of 110 kw). The transmission will be a CVT and the it will have lithium-ion batteries.
The plug-in version The Prius PHV will have higher capacity batteries allowing it a range of 50km on electric power only. Toyota are claiming average fuel consumption of approximately 1,5 l/100 km
The cars will be launched in in the second half of 2016.
