Lexus has added new turbocharged models to its local range. The new models include the IS200t in both E and EX trim levels.
Lexus has worked on the exhaust layout and engine management system to increase power compared to the unit used in the NX SUV. The result is that the 2,0-litre turbocharged engine now delivers 180 kW at 5 800 r/min, instead of 175 kW at 4 800 r/min. The available torque is still 350 N.m from 1 650 r/min.
Torque is send to the rear wheels via the eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the same transmission used in the IS350 F Sport and the RC350 and features auto-blip on downshifts.
Interestingly, the dampers fitted are actually developed by Yamaha, and according to Lexus “counteract body roll and increase torsional rigidity”.
Lexus claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7,0 seconds and an average fuel consumption figure of 7,5 L/100 km.
An interesting fact is that the turbo can spin up to 180 000 r/min.
New pricing for the IS range:
Lexus IS 200t E – R518 800
Lexus IS 200t EX – R570 300
Lexus IS 350 F Sport – R627 900
