Mahindra has added another model to its Genio range of one-ton pick-ups in the guise of the Genio drop-side.

This forth addition to the Genio line-up is targeted squarely at small-to-medium businesses requiring a cheap, robust pick-up with a versatile drop-side load bed configuration.

Like other models in the Genio range, the drop-side is underpinned by the a platform largely shared with the firm’s Xylo 8-seater and features a suspension configuration comprising and independent/coil spring arrangement up front and a live axle with leaf springs aft. According to Mahindra, this model can shoulder a payload of just over 1,2 tons.

Power is provided by Mahindra’s mHawk 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. This unit develops 88 kW at 4 000 r/min and 290 N.m of torque at 1 800 r/min.

The among the Genio’s standard features are ABS-equipped brakes, power steering, central locking, air conditioning and a 2-DIN audio system.

A 3-year/100 000 km warranty and one year’s roadside assistance are standard, while a 3-year/60 000 km service plan is available as an optional extra.
