Earlier this year we drove the new McLaren 675LT. We were quite impressed by the focused nature, speed and intensity of McLaren’s latest supercar. Adding even more exclusivity to the car, McLaren confirmed it will only built a limited number of cars. Now the company has followed the same recipe with its new 675LT Spider.
Offering the same engine (496 kW/700 N.m), drivetrain and weight saving programme as the hardtop, means McLaren claims an impressive dry weight of 1 270 kg and an acceleration time of 2,9 seconds, while 200 km/h is achieved in 8,1 seconds, only 0,2 seconds slower than the hardtop. Overall the Spider is only 40 kg heavier than the coupé. The three-piece retractable folding hardtop can be opened at speeds up to 30 km/h.
As standard, the 675LT Spider will be fitted with 10-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels – 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear. They will be wrapped in Pirelli P Zero™ Trofeo R tyres. According to McLaren, these are the lightest wheel and tyre set ever offered by the company. Two Super-Lightweight wheel options are available as options; a new 20-spoke design, offered in liquid metal or diamond cut finishes, and the five-spoke Super-Lightweight design which debuted on the Coupé.
Only 500 675LT Spiders will be built, and will be priced from £285 450 (+-R6,2 million before any tax and import duties).
