McLaren Automotive has announced a new, optional “Track Pack” for its 570S, which serves to cut weight and enhance aerodynamics.
The British automaker says the package is designed to “deliver enhanced levels of driver engagement for owners who enjoy occasional track day activity without compromising the car’s all-round usability”.
The package includes a “discretely extended” (12 mm higher) rear wing to generate an extra 29 kg of downforce at 240 km/h.
Other Track Pack visual clues include a McLaren Special Operations roof finish in Dark Palladium, and a stealth-finish Sports exhaust.
Ticking the Track Pack options box sees the McLaren 570S tip the scales at 25 kg less than the standard coupé, something made possible by a lightweight interior package. Here, Alcantara replaces leather for the seats, dashboard and steering wheel covering, while carbon-fibre racing seats are added. Further weight reductions include the Stealth-finish lightweight alloys.
In addition, the package includes a track telemetry system, something also found in the 675LT and P1. The system provides real-time information, such as lap times, sector splits and comparisons between drivers, as well as post-drive analysis and data-logging with graphical plots of vehicle speed and lap-time deltas.
McLaren says the Track Pack is available to order immediately, with the first deliveries beginning in early 2017. The price of this little option? Some £16 500 (around R288 000)…
